Sheringham Golf Course

Most of Norfolk County is considered an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Sheringham Golf Course is built in one of these areas, nestled on the cliffs overlooking the shoreline and the North Sea.  It has been the site of three English Ladies’ Championships and the course is one of the most beautiful in the area.
Sheringham was started in 1891 with nine holes, the back nine being completed seven years later in 1898.  It is located between the preserved North Norfolk Railway and the North Sea. Its par fours are long and challenging holes thanks to the ocean winds coming across the gorse covered cliffs it sits on.  It plays 6,456 yards for the men, and 5,752 yards for the ladies.  Par is 70 and 73 respectively for men and women.  Players who wish to practice a little bit before hitting the greens are welcome to use the practice ground, putting greens and practice net with bunkers before heading to the first tee.
Visitors are welcome to come and play at Sheringham Golf Club but they must contact the management in advance and be able to supply a handicap certificate.  Summer rates – April through October – is £50.00 per day Sunday through Friday, £60.00 on Saturdays.  Winter rates which are from November through March are £35.00 Sunday through Friday and £45.00 on Saturdays.  Discounted rates for twilight rounds are available and there is a professional on site to answer any questions.  Buggy hire is also available for an additional fee and the Club has a ‘spike bar’ and restaurant for golfers enjoyment and refreshment after a round.
